Tag London

1) Summarise the Ill Manors Tag London campaign in 100 of your own words.
- The Tag London campaign involved the audience from Plan B's following to help promote the film. What he did was get them to tweet what the song meant to him using the hashtag #ILLMANORS and he went around London and projected them on London Landmarks such as the house of Parliament.

2) How does the Ill Manors Tag London campaign help to promote Plan B, the soundtrack and the film?
-This campaign was a good way to promote the film because it was a shock to the people who witnessed the projections on buildings like the House of Parliament. This shock will make it more likely for them to want to search up what Ill Manors is all about and the fact that the tweets are being projected in the well known London Landmarks makes it more likely for the audience to grow as London is a busy place and a lot of people will see the tweets.

3) What synergy (links) can you find between the Tag London campaign and other texts you have studied as part of the Ill Manors case study?
- A synergy that is evident in the campaign as well as the film is the urban feel to it. The film is set in an area where there are council estates and the characters in the film are dressed in a way that shows this like hoodies for example that suggest that they are troublesome and careless. This is linked to the campaign as they projected the tweets in graffiti form, which is something that is more likely to be stereotyped towards the people who live in council estate as it is seen as deviant behaviour.
- Another is within the tweets there is a link to the clip of the TEDx lecture. One of the tweet mentioned '#INSPIREKIDS DON'T PUT THEM DOWN?' In the TEDx lecture Plan B mentioned 'Find out what kids are good at. It will change their lives' Which was the basis of the whole lecture, explaining why it is important for kids to be encouraged to do what the want and not to let their struggles be an obstacle in their path.

4) Why might user-generated campaigns like this be more successful than traditional media campaigns? Offer three different reasons UGC-driven campaigns are popular with media institutions.
- User generated campaigns are far more successful than traditional media campaigns as it involves the audience more and it voices their opinions and makes them feel like they are a part of what is going on.
- Not only that but it generates a larger word of mouth, in this campaign Plan B's following would already want to be a part of the campaign and they will want to share this and let other people know of this and therefore get more publicity. The more word of mouth there is the more news of the film.
- Also, its the cheapest way to promote a film on a large scale. Some films get the audience to create things like fan-art, tweets etc. to get them involved and this a cheap way to get aspects of the film to be promoted easily.

5) Choose FIVE of the tweets above and for each one write what target audience the tweet could appeal to (demographics/psychographics) and then link the tweet to one other media text you have studied as part of the Ill Manors case study (TEDx lecture, music video etc.) Justify your link for each tweet using examples from the film/promotional material.

-'ON PRINCIPLE, WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TEENAGER LOOTING TRAINERS AND A POLITICIAN STEALING THOUSANDS IN EXPENSES? #ILLMANORS'
-#ILLMANORS, SOCIETY REBELLING BACK AT BROKEN BRITAIN, @4PLANB
Music video

This appeals to the the time of the riots and those who have strong opinions about the issues related to it whether it be the teenagers that it affected or the government. It is mostly political and targets David Cameron's broken Britain.

-#ILLMANORS #IGNORINGTHEPROBLEM DOES NOT SOLVE IT? #INSPIREKIDS DON'T PUT THEM DOWN? #SOCIALCHANGECOMESTHROUGHACTION NOT INACTION? @4PLANB
-#ILLMANORS INCLUSION NOT EXCLUSION.
TEDx lecture

These tweets appeal more to those who live in the conditions that have a lot of problems and that Plan B focuses on when he is talking in his lecture about how the kids are not encouraged and motivated enough to do better and improve their situation which leads to a whole cycle of failure.

PLAN B'S #ILLMANORS MOVEMENT IS SICK, GET INVOLVED
Film Poster

The use of the word 'sick' means two different things in both context. In the poster it is to show that he is puking and in the tweet is to express an opinion, a way of saying cool.
This appeal more to the younger generation maybe those who were involved in the riots. This tries to involves them in expressing their opinion and beliefs.
